The best suppressor for a CZ 457 is the Reticent 22. It threads directly onto the factory 1/2×28 rimfire threads, and it only weighs 2.5 ounces. On a bolt action, nothing cycles during the shot, so the suppressor does all the talking.
Which 457 to buy comes down to budget. Here’s which models come threaded, what the Reticent 22 adds to each, and which one we’d pick at each price.
Because it’s the lightest and quietest full-size .22 suppressor. The Reticent 22 weighs 2.5 ounces, measures 5″ long and 1″ in diameter, and is built from Grade 5 titanium printed with DMLS.
On our standard test host, a Ruger Precision Rimfire, the Reticent 22 recorded a lowest shot of 113.4 dB and a 115 dB five-shot average. That’s a bolt-action rifle, same as the CZ 457, so it’s a close reference.
The Reticent 22 threads straight onto any threaded 22 LR CZ 457. No adapter, no mount, no extra parts.
Several 22 LR models ship threaded 1/2×28 rimfire from the factory. Every one of them takes the Reticent 22.
| CZ 457 model | Barrel | Thread | Weight | Reticent 22 adds | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready | 20.5″ | 1/2×28 rimfire | 5.4 lb | 2.9% | $679 MSRP |
| Hunter Veil | 20″ | 1/2×28 rimfire (ships with a compensator) | 5.5 lb | 2.8% | $799 MSRP |
| Chassis MTR | 24″ | 1/2×28 rimfire | 7.7 lb | 2.0% | $2,399 MSRP |
The Hunter Veil comes with a compensator on the muzzle. Spin it off and the Reticent 22 threads on in its place.
If your 457 is threaded 1/2×28 rimfire, it’s ready for a Reticent 22.
It depends on your price point. All three of our picks are threaded, and the Reticent 22 works the same on each.
The CZ 457 Chassis MTR is a very nice rifle. It sits in an MDT ACC Premier chassis with full adjustment, runs a heavy barrel with a match chamber, and carries CZ’s 1 MOA guarantee. The catch is price: the chassis takes it to $2,399 MSRP, the most expensive 457 by a wide margin.
The Hunter Veil pairs a light 20″ barrel with a polymer stock in Veil camo and a bronze finish, at about 5.5 pounds. It’s a rifle built to carry. Swap the factory compensator for a Reticent 22 and it stays light.
The American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready is the low-cost way into a threaded 457. Same action, a 20.5″ barrel threaded 1/2×28 rimfire, and 5.4 pounds. It does everything the Reticent 22 needs it to do.
Spend on the rifle you’ll actually shoot. The Reticent 22 doesn’t care which 457 it’s on.
Less than on a pistol, but you feel it in the balance. Weight at the muzzle sits at the far end of the rifle, so every ounce there pulls the barrel down when you shoot offhand.
On the 5.4-pound American Synthetic, the Reticent 22 adds 2.9% to the rifle’s weight.
On a light 457, a 2.5-ounce suppressor keeps the balance where CZ put it.
It’s a bolt action. Nothing cycles during the shot, so there’s no action noise and no gas blowing back toward your face. With subsonic 22 LR, a suppressed bolt gun is about as quiet as a firearm gets.
One note: the CZ 457 also comes in rimfire magnum calibers. The Reticent 22 is rated for 22 LR, so grab the 22 LR version.
A bolt-action 457 is one of the quietest hosts you can put a .22 suppressor on.
The Reticent 22 is the lightest full-size .22 suppressor at 2.5 ounces, Grade 5 titanium that threads straight onto any threaded 22 LR CZ 457. Put it on a Hunter Veil and you’ve got a quiet field rifle that still carries light. Shop the Reticent 22.

The Reticent 22. It threads directly onto the 1/2×28 rimfire muzzle of any threaded 22 LR CZ 457, weighs 2.5 ounces, and is built from Grade 5 titanium. On a bolt-action host like the 457, it recorded a lowest shot of 113.4 dB in our testing on a Ruger Precision Rimfire.
The threaded 22 LR CZ 457 models, including the American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready, Hunter Veil, and Chassis MTR, ship threaded 1/2×28 rimfire. That’s the standard rimfire thread, so a direct-thread .22 suppressor like the Reticent 22 screws straight on with no adapter.
It depends on budget. The Chassis MTR is the premium pick, the Hunter Veil is the best field rifle, and the American Synthetic Suppressor-Ready is the best value. Every one ships threaded 1/2×28 rimfire, and the Reticent 22 works the same on all three.
Yes. A bolt action has no cycling noise during the shot, so with subsonic 22 LR, the suppressor handles almost all of the sound. Our Reticent 22 averaged 115 dB on a bolt-action Ruger Precision Rimfire, the closest reference host to the 457 we’ve tested.
No. The Reticent 22 is rated for 22 LR only. The CZ 457 is also sold in rimfire magnum calibers, so if you plan to suppress it with a Reticent 22, buy the 22 LR version and confirm it ships threaded 1/2×28 rimfire before you order.
